The US Hemp Building Association has partnered with Parson's New School Healthy Materials Lab (HML) to help remove barriers for architects and designers to specify hempcrete in residential and large-scale commercial projects.
Added to the USHBA Architect's Toolkit, released last month, is a free resource from HML of Open Source Details: Designing with Hemp Lime, part of the school's Hemp Lime resources. Parsons also published a free resource Hemp+Lime in 2019, a 103-page summary of hemp-lime building.
"This partnership with Parsons Healthy Materials Lab will help spread the word to design professionals about designing with hemp lime," said Ray Kaderli, president of USHBA.
USHBA's free suite of digital tools for architects, designers and code officials now includes:
• IRC 2024 Appendix BL "Hemp Lime" for residential building codes.
• ARCAT's Commercial Guide Spec: Hempcrete Thermal Insulation for large-scale commercial structures
• AIA-CES Continuing Education classes for architect continuing education.
• Open Source Details: Designing with Hemp Lime - Free details for designers and architects.
